Zero-day: Packing

Hi all!

I've just quit in a very very boring job (IT developer) and because I do not want to jump to another boring job immediately I decided to GO AROUND THE WORLD! :-)

In fact, I have no upper time limit for the trip and I have no items scheduled in my calendar. What a perfect moment for travelling!

Well, OK, details: I have a poor English so my first trip is thru USA and I plan to be there maybe for a month spent by chatting with some people arround. I have no special plan what to do, hopefully I will find some opportunities... will see...

Today I finally found a cheap ticket to New York. It is not a direct flight, there will be 2 changes, in Amsterdam and Boston, but never mind - my mission for this trip is "the path can also be the destination", so this is even better. So, reservation is done, it's official - I'm leaving today 3.15am, in a deep night.

I have to pack. I really hate a big luggage because it can destroy the feeling of freedom from the trip. I'm used to go with my small city back-pack everywhere and I thing I do not need much stuff with me now, so I'll try to pack up into this small, 10 litre back-pack... :-)

What do I need? Unfortunately, I still have some duties from work so I have to take a laptop with me (but on the other hand, this income should cover my trip expenses, I hope). And this is definitely the biggest item on list.

What next? Passport, wallet, cell-phone, cell-phone charger. Earphones. Tooth brush (tooth paste is not absolutely neccesary - it's important only for good feeling). Sun lotion (small tube). Shaving blade. A few plasters.

I have a nice book I like to browse in a spare time - Antony de Mello, The Way to Love. It's really a small book, very pleasant and modest fellow. I'm definitely taking him with me :-)

Swimming trunks.

A pen.

No camera (I have something in my cell phone).

Small Victorinox knife. Hope the airport security will not notice this during a security check -- it has already happened to me - they found I have this small knife, they throw it away and I had to go to personal scan [poor English..]. I had to buy a new one then. I will buy a new one, if this happens again.. ;-)

A teaspoon. (Have you ever eat a yogurt with your fingers?)

No dresses. I'll be wearing one T-shirt, sometimes I'll buy a new one in some tourist boutique. Hm, OK mum, I will take one undershirt (from a special warming material) for cold evenings.

And that's all. I'll see what I forgot, what is really really important..
